1982–1990

Soundscape Fusion and the mixtape era

The roots of Scalpel Stitch begin under the name Soundscape Fusion. This period centered on tape edits, found sound, samples, collage, and underground experimentation.

Moo Moo Cow Records is founded

In the early 1990s the project expanded and Moo Moo Cow Records was founded. The Mode Series also emerged during this era.

1992

Frequency cassette release

The label’s debut release was Frequency by Mobile Depression, distributed in and around Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

1990–2000

Extended project network

Scalpel Stitch acted as a moving framework for people, projects, aliases, experiments, and releases.

2001

Journey to Nowhere

The CD release of Journey to Nowhere by Soundscape Fusion marked a turning point as Moo Moo Cow gradually shifted into the Zine.

2005

Sponge It becomes Spunjet Records

A new experimental offshoot called Sponge It was launched and later renamed Spunjet Records.

The purpose was to revisit unused recordings from the Moo Moo Cow years, including cassettes, CD-Rs, and the Sub Frequency mixtape series.

Summer 2009

Archive material returns

The archive concept took shape with the release of the Moo Moo Cow Sample Pack and The Starters Kit.

September 23, 2009

Spunjet.com goes live

Spunjet.com officially launched with a mission to build a collaborative archive of sound effects and music that others could use, remix, and expand upon.

August 1, 2015

Spunjet Baby is adopted

The project underwent another rebranding and adopted the name Spunjet Baby, under which it continues today as a passion-driven creative project.
